Wild peacoats: accesorizing your winter outerwear

Peacoats have always been my favorite winter coats. It could be because when I was younger the puffer jackets were in style, but not just ANY puffer jackets. Northface puffer jackets. Yes, I was warm but I also looked like a chicken with this oversized jacket and tiny legs. If any girl who has gone to private school, you know that stockings DO NOTHING when it comes to warmth for winter. For me personally, peacoats are just easier to move in. This one that I am wearing I got many, many years ago from New York and Company. What I love most about it is that the collar can pop up for an extra barrier between your face and the wind. The tie around my waist also creates a nice focal point other than my freezing cold face with my red nose and cheeks.

Luckily it hasn’t been too cold here in New York just yet. Ironically tomorrow it will be absolutely freezing here in New York. We go through the phase of when you leave for work in the morning your completely bundled but when you leave it isn’t so terrible and the extra layers aren’t needed, especially if your taking public transportation home. Crowded subway cars and buses aren’t a favorite to any one. And then suddenly it is completely frozen outside, drastic winter weather for the win!

I have been trying to incorporate color into my wardrobe and smalls steps are necessary.. This deep violet top is the perfect stepping stone. Not only is it color, but its dark enough that it is almost black! A very happy Wednesday Addams over here!

These shoes I got from DSW last year, they are a suede slip on wedge from Nine West. I was slightly hesitant when I got them because I was unsure of how they looked. That insecurity quickly went when I found it so easy to wear these to work and it made my outfit just a little bit dressier too. The knee ripped jeans from Dynamite are one of my favorites, but they are SO DAMN LONG. #shortgirlproblems I rolled them up to add a different look to the jeans … and because I had no other choice since my ankles looked completely bunched up if I didn’t do that.

For a touch of wild, I added my leopard scarf. As I’ve mentioned, it isn’t too cold out where I need a heavier scarf. So this lightweight scarf is perfect for this weather, and I can wear the scarf as part of my outfit too. VERSATILITY!!
