Fall/Winter Trends 2019

My most favorite time of year has arrived: fall. Mostly because by this time I am very much over the hot, humid, sticky weather in New York. Once the cool air finally decides to stay we can all get excited to wear all of these new fall trends. Could I decide on which ones I loved the most? HA! You should know me better by now that I’ve chosen a handful of trends that I am in love with and those that I believe are worth investing in.

So while I try to figure out which trend I am going to wear first, let’s jump into what the trends are…

Asymmetric Shoulder Lines

This particular trend reminds me of something from my post-college years. I have always been a fan of a fun shoulder line and not being completely covered.

Zara had some of this in their spring line and I was truly a fan. Shop the Sequins Top and Ribbed One-shoulder Top.

I love this trend! Satin dresses and skirts are incredibly easy to throw on. Most girls are rocking the 90’s trend with T-shirts and satin slip dresses. These are easy to wear and even get use out of them year-round.

Everyone blogger on planet Earth had a fleece jacket last year and this year they have returned. On the runway, it takes a bit of a chicer approach and I’m here for it. Although I am totally ok with wearing a fleece jacket, leggings, and sneakers to do my weekend errands looking like a dirtbag and seeing everyone I don’t want to run into.

Prep School

Sometimes I wonder if my binging of Gossip Girl has finally got ahold of the universe’s attention to drop this idea into designers minds. Probably not, but I do love the plaid part of these prep school looks. Who doesn’t want to walk around feeling like Blair Waldorf?

and speaking of plaid…

90’s Grunge Plaid

This year I am really feeling the 90’s look. Maybe I’ll even write a blog post about it if I could decide which 90’s look to wear. Grunge plaid is back and better than ever…

Punk Romance

This definitely weaves in different spectrums and it really caught my eye. Some days I want to be a bit more girly but my aesthetic is a bit more rock and roll…. so this is a marriage of looks that I really want to dive into more.

I love how the Alexander McQueen collection had a mix of hard and soft features – this dress has beautiful lace applique with just enough ruffles, styled with a choker necklace and combat boots and we have Punk Romance.

This collection will definitely be a source of inspiration for the fall/winter season for me. Although I tend to dress more casual, I do enjoy dressing more girly at times…

and with punk we always have…

I’ve noticed this trend recently, mostly because I saw a girl walking with a super chic leather dress. Immediately I thought “how is she not SWEATING in that” but really it was incredibly chic. There are even leather tops too that are also really cute too, I’m unsure if I’d actually wear this trend simply because I often get overheated. BUT. An alternate option would be this long leather coat which brings me into my next trend…

Long Coats

I’d prefer a longer coat that covers my ass and so should you. The winters are terribly cold here in New York and your not always lucky to catch a cab or have your Uber/Lyft be waiting for you outside [reality: you are waiting on a subway platform or street for the bus]. These long coats are fun for layering coats too, as seen here.

These are a major throwback to 2013-2014 where I saw a ton of girls wearing them. Well, I guess you can say that the trend is back in style! Cape coats are great for early fall… but I’ll still throw on my faux leather jacket 😉

Some other trends to note are feathers, logo tights and moto boots.

What are your favorite trends for the season?

Xx Sarah
