I love flared pants – sue me! Express dress pants have always fit me so well and I love that this style accentuates my shape. I styled it to be more casual and edgy since that is my typical go-to look. It is also something that I’d absolutely wear out with friends this fall since outdoor dining is year-round now in NYC.
The fall weather calls for some fall colors, and the best I got here is green. I wanted to style an edgy look for fall that was from items I already had in my closet, and this jacket being one of those items. I picked this green waterfall jacket with leather sleeves from Dynamite about five years ago and it has been a go-to item for me at the beginning of fall. This time around instead of wearing it with jeans I went with my Amazon mini faux leather skirt.
Mental health shaming is a real thing, maybe you’ve been lucky enough to not experience it. Maybe you have and it made you even more closed off then you already were. For years I have been experiencing it from my family, friends, and sometimes even at the workplace. How do you explain to someone the reason you are having a moment is because of your mental illness without feeling some type of shame?
“Why is she acting like that?”
“Can’t she just get over it and have fun?”
“Stop being so sensitive and learn to toughen up”
“You are freaking out over what?”
“What do you mean you are too tired to go?”
“Some people have it worse than you, maybe you should think about that”
“Why don’t you ask your doctor for medication? It seems like you could really use it”
We’re 6 months into this pandemic and it has taken a serious toll on our mental health. Personally, my mental health has been on a roller coaster that wasn’t approved by Six Flags or Coney Island to be built. So what’s to come?
The answer: no one knows.
September weather brings the ending of hot August sun and the beginnings of the cooler fall weather. But we all know that it starts out with those in-between season feelings: cooler mornings and hot afternoons. The fashion rule “don’t wear white after labor day” doesn’t apply in this case. I love wearing my two favorite colors throughout the year and these shorts allow me to wear both.
I recently wore this very cute outfit on a weekend outing with my friend. Since it was super humid out at the time I wanted to keep cool.
This Amazon mini skirt was probably my best find of 2020. Not only does it fit perfectly but there is a multitude of ways to wear it – casual, edgy, or girly. I’ve created three different looks for each of these styles, all of which encompass a different part of my personal style. Although it is summer, you can still wear a leather skirt if styled right or just not on a day where a heatwave is happening.
Another Pinterest recreation but with my own twist! Taking this casual denim overall dress into the heatwave of the summer.
The flared pant trend comes and goes every few seasons, I’ve never cared if they were in style or not they always flattered my body shape. My very first “real job” outfit was from Express, slowly thereafter my entire work wardrobe was from Express. The work pants come in various shapes and lengths, once you find a style you like it is worth buying it in a few different colors.
Of course, my thyroid decided it no longer wanted to work properly and my weight began to fluctuate. Since then I have worked in industries where the dress code was more casual and there was no need for my favorite Express dress pants. Fast forward to early 2020 and I’m looking for flared pants once again because I am beyond over the straight leg trend.
Ask me if I’d rather wear sneakers or heels? The answer is always sneakers. But not all outfits look great with sneakers and I will be the first to admit that.
This wrapped leather skirt from Zara was a purchase from last season, I have been trying to find an excuse to wear it with sneakers or at least kitten heels and no such luck. Now while I still search for the perfect small heel to go with this look my all time favorite Steve Madden heels will do.
And then I broke the strap.
