September weather brings the ending of hot August sun and the beginnings of the cooler fall weather. But we all know that it starts out with those in-between season feelings: cooler mornings and hot afternoons. The fashion rule “don’t wear white after labor day” doesn’t apply in this case. I love wearing my two favorite colors throughout the year and these shorts allow me to wear both.
I recently wore this very cute outfit on a weekend outing with my friend. Since it was super humid out at the time I wanted to keep cool.
This Amazon mini skirt was probably my best find of 2020. Not only does it fit perfectly but there is a multitude of ways to wear it – casual, edgy, or girly. I’ve created three different looks for each of these styles, all of which encompass a different part of my personal style. Although it is summer, you can still wear a leather skirt if styled right or just not on a day where a heatwave is happening.
Overalls. When was the last time you wore them? For me, it was when I was in grammar school and it was that in-between stage of life. Where you still dressed like a kid but were on the brink of becoming a teenager. Since then I never looked back at wanting to wear them again. Until I saw this look on Pinterest.
Never did I think that I wanted to own a piece of clothing that was anywhere near overalls. I mean honestly the last time I wore them it was my mother’s khaki overalls that I wore with a baby blue shirt. Talk about a sign of the times! This olive green overall dress completely changed my mind. It was a bit different compared to the denim overalls that I associate with that “pre-teen” style memory.
The flared pant trend comes and goes every few seasons, I’ve never cared if they were in style or not they always flattered my body shape. My very first “real job” outfit was from Express, slowly thereafter my entire work wardrobe was from Express. The work pants come in various shapes and lengths, once you find a style you like it is worth buying it in a few different colors.
Of course, my thyroid decided it no longer wanted to work properly and my weight began to fluctuate. Since then I have worked in industries where the dress code was more casual and there was no need for my favorite Express dress pants. Fast forward to early 2020 and I’m looking for flared pants once again because I am beyond over the straight leg trend.
Ask me if I’d rather wear sneakers or heels? The answer is always sneakers. But not all outfits look great with sneakers and I will be the first to admit that.
This wrapped leather skirt from Zara was a purchase from last season, I have been trying to find an excuse to wear it with sneakers or at least kitten heels and no such luck. Now while I still search for the perfect small heel to go with this look my all time favorite Steve Madden heels will do.
And then I broke the strap.
Pinterest is such a source of inspiration for fashion and style. The problem always lies in the fact that it has been shared and circulated throughout Pinterest so much that the source isn’t always clear. So how do I know where to shop the look?
Luckily for me, I have my master’s in internet searching. I was able to narrow down this to a Zara Pleated Tunic Top (last season) and I’ve been nervous to wear it out. Why you may wonder?
I’ve always loved white for spring. Yeah sure maybe it matched the color of my super fair skin but it didn’t stop me from wanting to wear it.
This dress is something that I’ve had my eye on for awhile. I have a similar dress from Dynamite in black and grey that I’ve featured many, many times before. It was difficult for me to justify purchasing this dress from Nordstrom just yet.
Summer is just around the corner and we may or may not still be in quarantine. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t want to dress nice right? Most of us are focused on when this will all be over and we can begin to transition into a normal phase of life. So why not focus on something we can control? What we wear!
You are going to be in shock but I have a lot of colorful suggestions here and it isn’t the language I’m writing either…
